In horror taxi crash, One dead and 5 injured

One man was killed and five others injured Tuesday morning after a taxi and truck collided on the N1 in De Doorns in the Western Cape, reports ER24.Russel Meiring, the ER24 Spokesperson, said an off duty ER24 paramedic “came across the event at 06h30 this morning”.Meitring said: “It is believed that the driver of the taxi had swerved to avoid a cow in the road. The taxi collided with the cow and finally collided head-on with the truck”.


The body of the taxi driver was found lying trepaned inside the taxi.“Unfortunately, the man had already died to his fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was announced dead on scene,” said Meiring.“Two other patients were found in a critical situation, the male driver of the truck and a female passenger from the taxi. Both these patients lay trapped in their vehicles.”


Meiring said rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free both patients.“Once freed, paramedics provided both patients with advanced life support interventions. Three other patients were found wit honly moderate injuries.”Local authorities were investigating.
